January 10, Haier was ranked first on the list of the Most Potential Chinese Brands published by Rewin Ander, a well-known brand appraisal company of Canada.

March 1, the opening ceremony of Haier (Middle East) Industrial Complex was held in Jordan. The plant covers a total area of 140,000 square meter and has 50,000 square meter production facility and annual production capacity of 1 million appliances.

On 31st January, the World Brand Lab, www.icxo.com and the World Executive Weekly issued the list of the World's 100 Most Recognizable Brands. As the only Chinese brand on the list, Haier was ranked 95th.

Haier was placed 1st of the Chinese companies at The World's Most Respected Companies Survey conducted jointly by PwC and the Financial Times.

November 26, CIBA, BSRIBN and sina.com launched a survey of China's Brand Globalization and Haier was voted one of China's Most Potential Global Brands in coming 5 to 10 years.

On 23rd January, Haier hosted a press conference in the People's Congress Hall for Haier Benfeng brand slim mobile phones, which incorporated 26 patented technologies and 2 international inventions and could be used as a mobile phone, laser pen and recorder.

On 30th December, a delegation led by Zhou Qiang, first secretary of Secretariat of the CYLC Central Committee, visited Haier. Zhou Qiang, hearing Haier CEO Zhang Ruimin's introduction to Haier brand building strategy and achievements in innovative practice over the past few years, was quoted as saying that, "Haier is a world recognized brand and Haier Group is a well-known enterprise and a model of Chinese industry. Haier is a pride of Chinese youth upon whom Haier has had civilizing influence."

On 2nd January, CEO Zhang Ruimin was presented with the 2001 CCTV China Business Leader Award and the 2001 CCTV China Business Leader Public Award.

On 21st March, a press conference was held in Qingdao announcing that shooting of the film entitled CEO was to begin. This movie was made using investment from China Film Group and Shandong Film Studio and was based on Haier's experiences.

On 14th May, China Quality Certification Organization (CQC) issued Haier with a CCC Certificate 1 for air conditioners.

On 31st March, a seminar for Haier Advanced Logistics Mechanism and the opening ceremony for Haier International Logistics Center were held in Haier headquarters. Haier was noted as a pioneer in Chinese logistics management.

On 3rd April CEO Zhang Ruimin visited Columbia University, Wharton College and The Wharton School.

On 26th December, the 17th Anniversary of the Founding of Haier, and the 2001 Seminar for Haier RMB60B Global Sales and Involvement with International Financial Services were held. Haier global sales hit RMB60 billion including USD420 million from export.

Haier president Zhang Ruimin delivered a speech at the 30th World Economic Forum held between 27th January and 1st February in Davos, Switzerland. Haier's experiences and innovations attracted the attention of participants.

In May, Haier president Zhang Ruimin is appointed CEO by the Haier Board.

On 19th May, Haier was listed as one of the Most Successful Global Companies by A.T.Kearney and Fortune.

On 7th October, CEO Zhang Ruimin delivered a speech at IMD on Haier Innovative Management. Zhang Ruimin was the first Asian entrepreneur to step on the IMD platform.
